ADVANCED EQUINE DIAGNOSTICS

CLEAR ANSWERS, FASTER TREATMENT

OUR ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS SUITE
We are equipped to deliver a wide range of diagnostic blood tests directly on-farm, helping us identify and treat problems quickly and effectively. These include:
- Lactate for assessing critical illness in unwell horses
- Insulin, used in laminitis cases or for horses suspected to have equine metabolic syndrome
- Serum Amyloid A (SAA) as a valuable inflammatory marker, to assess initial condition and monitor treatment response
- Pre-treatment Screening for Laminitis Risk prior to corticosteroid administration
In-clinic, we offer full Haematology and Biochemistry screening and IgG Testing of neonatal foals. This allows our vets to deliver fast, accurate insights and tailor treatment plans without delay.
We also offer Gastroscopy, using a 3-metre scope to examine the oesophagus and stomach in horses with symptoms such as recurrent choke, colic, weight loss, poor performance and behavioural changes. This enables accurate diagnosis of Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS) and guides effective treatment and management. Gastroscopy is available on demand or during our discounted quarterly gastroscopy days.
Our portable Upper Airway Endoscope can be used on-farm or in-clinic to investigate nasal discharge, respiratory noise, or other upper airway issues.
Each of our equine vets is equipped with a Wireless Ultrasound Scanner, enabling quick, on-the-spot imaging to help assess clinical issues. Whether it’s investigating a colic case, checking tendons, joints, lungs or a suspicious swelling, these scanners provide real-time visuals that appear on the vet’s phone or tablet and can be shared with you if desired.
We use the Parasight System at our Livestock and Equine Centre to accurately assess worm burdens and guide parasite control. Faecal samples can be dropped off at any of our eight clinics for internal transfer to Leongatha. These services help our vets diagnose and monitor a wide range of conditions quickly and accurately, supporting more targeted treatments and better health outcomes for your horse.
